These works explore ideas surrounding movement, chance and temporality. Started off with a basic composition in mind, then process, chance, and materiality of paint took over and informed the end results.  The result was something within and beyond my control. My intention was to render the feeling or mood of it without dictating the image or turning it into cliché. Gilles Deleuze observed that “A canvas is never empty,” there are many things already in a painter’s mind and/or surrounding her. Before the actual painting can start, a painter must empty the canvas out instead of filling it in. A painter must destroy the cliché, let go and transform it. Create resemblance through non-resemblance means. (The Painting before Panting in “Francis Bacon: The Logic of Sensation,” Gilles Deleuze, trans. Daniel W Smith, 2003.
